We hope to post the first software upgrade here in the coming weeks. It will be the new Baseline 520 software that touches many parts of the car.

Will it be possible for owners to plug in the car to e.g. a laptop with Fisker software to run a software check? e.g. after switching the winter wheels to summer wheels to “read them and recognice” or for reading an error or reset the computer?

Hello dental lab0 and non sequitur, will ask the techies here if it will be possible to manage the TPMS sensor learning yourself in a simple manner. Will come back to it.

Can you share release notes for the software release?

Hello Vikasrij, we will post the content of Baseline 520 on this forum within the next 2 weeks. Going through final installation validation as we speak and rebuilding the tools at the CSP provider level. If we can nail down the engineers, we will also post the preliminary content for Baseline 530 that will be due late this year.

Hello Carved, yes, the first upgrade package will be software only.

Will we need a CSP to update the software? If so, what about those of us without a CSP? How about a traveling CSP? That would seem to make a lot of sense. Send someone who can work on the cars to a location, rent a garage and perform service work. It would not be as handy as a full time dealer, but a lot better than nothing. A whole lot better!

Hello Ever1, your suggestion is good. We are however not staffed up to do that just yet. It’s still ‘only’ 200+ people at the new Fisker with most of them engineering, purchasing and manufacturing resources working on improvements to the current Karma, parts availability from the old supply base and getting ready to launch the next vehicle. It will take awhile before we are back up to strength in field service. We would advise however to hold off the Baseline 520 update if it is geographically inconvenient until Baseline 530 will be released late this year. Hopefully by that time we will have more CSP providers and more field service resources to assist you better.

It seems to me that those of us who do not have a close CSP (e.g.: 5 hours away) are pushing our “warrantee” program which I think is due to expire in 2016. I am trying to hang in and hoping a Toronto CSP is in the works before the warrantee expiration becomes real

I haven’t had my Fisker long, so I don’t know. Are the software installs something we get charged for every time, or are those a free service? If you’re doing 2 in six months, I think I’d be tempted to skip 520 if it’s any significant expense.

Just checking to see what if any software updates are in the works. The UI interface for the radio/nav really needs improvements and on Fisker Buzz many users created a wish list. Is this something we will see if the future?

Hello Sterling500, yes, we have several software updates in the works.

Baseline 520: touches many parts of the vehicle, final release notes to be distributed very soon

Baseline 530: touches mainly the HV battery management software and the Hybrid Control Unit. Preliminary content description to be released together with Baseline 520

Baseline 540: dedicated to functionality improvement on the CUI (Customer User Interface). This one is the tricky one as we have to find the previous programmers, their laptops and engineering hardware to recreate a test lab. We obviously see the need, but no idea yet on the when and what. The next vehicle is based on completely different hardware and software so there is unfortunately no or little overlap to the existing Karma. We’re making a concerted effort though.

Thank you Elux for making an effort on the CUI. Clearly you have no obligation to do so, and just as clearly, it will not be profitable for you to do so. Thanks for helping us Old Fisker owners out! (not that my Fisker looks old…..it still gets plenty of attention).

Will 520 be able to support delayed charging so that we can take advantage of lower off-peak electricity rates?

Hello Marswill, Baseline 540 is where this functionality would reside. It is part of our ‘wanted’ list as in many states there are ‘time of day’ electricity rate benefits to get. For now we recommend users who still have to install a level II EVSE to get one that has a timer build in (or upgrade to one). A good example would be a Juicebox Pro 40. Fisker will release their own EVSE late this year that will also have that functionality. For people using the regular 110v Level I EVSE, a simple wall timer can do the trick also.

Since the CIU is what we have to deal with directly every time we drive the vehicle PLEASE try to track down the programmers. An update to the CIU would be most appreciated! I’m sure that would greatly increase the satisfaction level with the Karma.
